Absolute Cinema Guide

Stuck on something? Need immediate help without a second to spare? This is the right place!

1. How Absolute Cinema Works

Absolute Cinema is a Hack Club You Ship We Ship (YSWS) program where teenagers animate original short films, code rooms to present their film, and assemble together on the day of "Hackclub Film Fantasia" for awards!

Step 1: Animate

2D? 3D? Your choice of a short film under 5 minutes!

Step 2: Build Room

Write an HTML/CSS/JS cinema room featuring an embedded video player and your custom theatre theme. We want you to elaborate more on website.

Step 3: Hackclub Film Fantasia!

We go live on Twitch and YouTube to have a Film Festival to give awards to those who secured positions!

2. Guidelines & Submission Rules

3. Building Your Screening Room

Unlike a traditional video contest, your animation lives in its own website. You build a custom HTML page that serves as your screening auditorium.

Your room page should include:

  1. An embedded player (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, or direct HTML5 <video>).
  2. Movie info: Title, synopsis, director/animator credits, and runtime.
  3. Custom styling: Make the room on the theme given to you!

To submit your room, fork the Absolute Cinema repository on GitHub, add your room file under rooms/, and open a Pull Request:

git checkout -b room/your-name # Create rooms/your-name.html git add rooms/your-name.html git commit -m "Add screening room for [Film Title]" git push origin room/your-name

4. Prizes & Hardware

Theres some confusion about the prizes and hardware available and how it would be dristibuted...
